Tree Meter Privacy Policy

This privacy policy applies to the Tree Meter app (hereby referred to as "Application") for mobile devices, created by Abishkar Bhattarai (hereby referred to as "Service Provider"). This service is provided "AS IS".

1. Non Government Affiliation Disclaimer
Tree Meter is a privately developed application and is NOT affiliated with, endorsed by, or representing the Government of Nepal ,nor the Ministry of Forests and Environment, nor any specific Division Forest Office. Any reference  is for informational and mathematical calculation purposes only to assist forestry professionals.

2. Camera and Augmented Reality (AR) Data
The Application requires access to your device's Camera to utilize Augmented Reality (ARCore) features for measuring tree height and girth (diameter).

  • Real-time Processing: The camera feed is processed entirely locally on your device in real-time to detect physical surfaces and calculate mathematical distances.
  • No Recording or Uploading: The Application DOES NOT take photographs, record videos, or transmit any visual camera data to the Service Provider or any external servers.

3. Premium Licensing and Device ID Collection
If you choose to activate a Premium License within the Application, the Service Provider collects a secure, anonymized Hardware Identifier (Device ID) specific to your phone.

  • Purpose: This ID is used strictly to bind your purchased license code to your specific device to prevent unauthorized sharing or piracy. It is securely stored in our cloud database (Firebase) and cannot be used to identify you personally.

4. Location Data (GPS)
The Application requests access to your mobile device’s precise location (GPS).

  • Purpose: This data is used solely to tag the geographic coordinates (Easting/Northing) of specific trees when you choose to save a tree record.
  • Storage: Location data is stored locally on your device. It is not transmitted to the Service Provider’s servers, but it will be included in the Excel/CSV export files you generate.

5. Device Storage and File Access
The Application generates Excel (.xlsx) files containing your calculated timber volumes and inventory logs. To perform this, the Application requires permission to write and save these files to your device's local storage so you can access, print, or share them. The Service Provider does not have access to these files.

6. Third-Party Services and Internet Access
The Application connects to the internet to verify license statuses, fetch remote configuration updates (feature unlocks), and serve advertisements. The Application utilizes third-party services that have their own Privacy Policies:

  • Google Play Services
  • Google AdMob
  • Google Firebase (Firestore)

7. Data Retention & Security
All tree measurements and inventory logs are stored locally on your device's internal SQLite database. You have full control over this data and can permanently delete it by clearing the app's cache/storage or deleting entries manually. The Service Provider does not store a copy of your personal forest inventory data. We implement reasonable physical and electronic safeguards to protect the limited license data we do maintain.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. You are advised to consult this Privacy Policy regularly for any changes, as continued use is deemed approval of all changes.
